Eyes of freedom plaqueHere’s all the details about the Eyes of Freedom Memorial at First Presby September 9 – 12

What is it?

A series of life size portraits by Ohio artist Anita Miller memorializing 22 Marines from Ohio’s Lima Company who were killed in Iraq in 2005.  Learn more about the memorial.  In addition, First Presby is creating space for those who wish to remember and offer prayers for those who died in war or who struggle with physical or psychological wounds from combat.

Where is it?

The memorial and prayer chapel will be in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 28 East Park in Columbiana.

Memorial Arrival and Opening Ceremony

The memorial will be arriving in Columbiana at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, September 9, accompanied by a motorcycle escort.  There will be a short ceremony at the church at the time of arrival.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MEMORIAL ITSELF WILL NOT BE OPEN AT THIS TIME.

Memorial Hours

The memorial will be open to visitors Thursday – Saturday, noon – 10 pm.

Parking

Due to the simultaneous Columbiana Street Fair, parking may be extremely limited.  On Wednesday night the church parking lots will be reserved for the motorcycle escort.  On street parking may be limited as well.  On Thursday, Friday and Saturday pay parking will be available in the church lots on a first come, first serve basis.  On street parking will be limited.
